Merian’s treasure room
Small creeping insects, opulent flowers and plants fascinated Biologist Maria Sibylle Merian. In the 17th century, she researched flora and fauna and drew many pictures of them. She showed not only the perfect but exposed nature in all its raw beauty. Her drawings, so detailed and sculptural inspired me for this collection.
